At Clinton, we aim to prepare our learners for their future by giving them the opportunities to gain knowledge and develop skills that will equip them for an ever-changing digital world. Knowledge and understanding of ICT is of increasing importance for children’s future both at home and for employment.

Whilst ensuring they understand the advantages and disadvantages associated with online experiences, we want children to develop as respectful, responsible and confident users of technology, aware of measures that can be taken to keep themselves and others safe online.

Our children will be taught computing in a way that ensures progression of skills, and follows a sequence to build on previous learning. These strands are revisited repeatedly through a range of themes during children’s time in school to ensure the learning is embedded and skills are successfully developed. Beyond teaching computing discreetly, we will give pupils the opportunity to apply and develop what they have learnt across wider learning in the curriculum.

The children will gain experience and skills of a wide range of technology in a way that will enhance their learning opportunities, enabling them to use technology across a range of subjects to be creative and solve problems.

STEM activities provide us with a great opportunity to develop metacognition skills through problem solving and we seek to maximise the potential of having an ‘innovation lab’ to create excitement in this area.

Online Safety

Being safe online is something we teach from Reception up, at an age appropriate level. This is explained in more depth in the ‘Community wellbeing’ part of our website. We use the following curriculum to teach from.
